Playing With an AI Teammate

Somebody quit. The AI is here. The game changes, but it does not automatically end.

Stop pretending the AI is the same player

The AI may behave differently from the human-controlled build.

Adjust:

  • Spacing expectations
  • Defensive matchups
  • Passing timing
  • Shot creation
  • Who initiates offense

Use the AI as a connector

AI teammates can often help by:

  • Swinging the ball
  • Taking open set shots
  • Maintaining basic spacing
  • Defending predictable actions

Do not force the AI to become a primary creator unless the situation requires it.

Do not spam call-for-pass

Multiple players repeatedly demanding the ball can make AI possessions chaotic.

Call for the pass when:

  • You are clearly open
  • The angle is safe
  • The clock requires action
  • The AI is trapped

Help the AI defensively

Opponents may target predictable AI behavior.

Be prepared to:

  • Switch matchups
  • Provide early help
  • Protect cuts
  • Rotate after screens
  • Avoid leaving the AI in repeated impossible situations

Do not blame the AI for the human who quit

The remaining players need solutions, not a ten-minute argument about who left.
