Tryhard

noungeneral gaming slang

A player perceived as trying excessively hard, especially in a casual setting.

Tryhard overlaps with sweat, but it is usually more dismissive. The label says as much about the speaker’s expectations as it does about the other player’s skill.

Used in a sentence

“He brought a tournament lineup into a casual event—real tryhard behavior.”

Also written try hard

Usually an insult. Listed because players use it, not as a judgement of anyone.

Community slang changes over time and can mean different things in different game editions, modes and groups.
